Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Acceptance Process
When the Committee on Admissions (COA) makes a final decision regarding an interviewed applicant, the D.O. Program Admissions Office will contact each applicant via email and telephone to inform him or her of the committee’s decision. Applicants may also view the status of their application at anytime on the NSU WebSTAR.
Decisons
Accepted
An acceptance package is mailed to applicants on the day following the COA decision. All offers of acceptance are provisional. An offer of acceptance may be rescinded if the applicant does not respond to the acceptance offer or does not maintain academic standards or meet other program requirements prior to enrollment.
Not Accepted
A notification of non-admittance is sent to each applicant declined admission. Upon request, the Office of Admissions will counsel the applicant to help increase their competitiveness for a future application.
Alternate
Due to the large volume of applicants and the available spots in the class, the COA may place prospective students on the alternate list. The COA does not rank order prospective students on the alternate list. Applicants will be contacted by the D.O. Program Admissions Office periodically to provide updates on the status. The applicant will be informed immediately upon change of admission status.
Acceptance Packages
Acceptance packages include an Acceptance Letter, Deposit Instructions, Financial Aid Information, Letter of Intent, ADA information; DO program CD, NSU-COM magazine, MPH information and a Certificate of Technical Standards for the program. The deposit must be received by the due date stated in the Acceptance Letter. Non-receipt of the deposit by the due date will result in revoking the offer of acceptance; no extensions will be made.
