Our program was among the first to partner with the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) to provide their 10x10 certification.

MSBI Program graduates were among the first group of physicians in the nation to become board certified in clinical informatics.

MSBI Program students have completed internship and practicum experiences at many sites including Cleveland Clinic Florida, Palmetto General Hospital, National Institutes of Health, and Mayo Clinic.

The Biomedical Informatics Program is growing with faculty positions currently available.

Our students have twice won the South Florida Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Chapter Scholarship.

As a part of the Biomedical Informatics Program’s Academic Organizational Affiliate status with the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), all full time students are entitled to a free HIMSS membership!

The Biomedical Informatics Program was ranked No. 6 out of 25 on’s 2015 list of Best Value Online Master’s in Health Informatics and Health Information Management.

Admissions Requirements


The M.S.B.I. program evaluates the overall quality of its applicants, including academic achievement, personal motivation, knowledge about health care, life experience, and recommendations. Priority will be given to those individuals holding a degree in the health professions such as those with clinical degrees in osteopathic or allopathic medicine, dental medicine, optometry, pharmacy, podiatric medicine, nursing, or other health discipline. Criteria for admissions are as follows:

All application material must be received in a timely manner to enable the Office for Admissions and the Committee on Admissions (COA) to process the application promptly.

Application Procedures

The Office of Admissions processes applications on a year-round basis. Applicants may apply for matriculation into any one of the three semesters (fall, winter, summer).

All of the following must be completed for an application to be considered by the admissions committee.

Test results must be sent directly from the testing agency to the center you applied. Proof of English language competency can also be in the form of successful completion of a degree at an approved U.S. institution of higher education.

The school may require additional documentation to support the application.
