Lifelong Learning Institute
The LLI currently coordinates 11 satellite programs at different South Florida sites located in a geographic range from Aventura to Boca Raton. It is the mission of the LLI to include as many adults as possible in the quest for continued learning. Therefore, the satellite program was created for older adults who are unable to get to the LLI on-campus location and who primarily live in independent living facilities or retirement communities.
Academic classes similar to LLI on-campus programs are offered to these residents and include topics in music, history, art, health, and philosophy. LLI satellite partners are also encouraged to take field trips to the on-campus LLI classroom, therefore allowing the residents of these communities to have the on-campus experience as well as socialize with other LLI members.
The LLI also maintains relationships with a number of community organizations serving the needs of the local older adult population, including
- ESRN - Elder Services Resource Network
- TRIAD/SALT - Seniors and Law Enforcement Together
- BCOA – Broward Coalition on Aging
- ENCORE - Leadership Broward Foundation
