Dean, College of Osteopathic Medicine

Dr. Silvagni was appointed NSU-COM Dean effective July 1, 1998. Prior to his NSU employment, he was Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Silvagni received his bachelor's, master's, and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He completed his residency in Clinical Pharmacy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Silvagni has an extensive background in osteopathic medicine, therapeutics, research, health education administration, and program development. He has held faculty appointments at the University of Health Sciences, the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, the University of Arizona, State University of New York, the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Dr. Silvagni, who is board certified in Family Medicine, is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and a past member of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.

His professional appointments include serving as Administrator for Appalachia Regional Hospitals for the Lakes Area Health Education Center, as Medical Director of a state drug rehabilitation center, as Associate Medical Director of an HMO, and a stint in private practice as the owner of a multi-site rural medical practice.
