Computer/Laptop Requirements

Option 2

You may satisfy the Option 2 computer/laptop requirement by using a laptop that you own, or by purchasing one, as long as it satisfies the minimum requirements listed below.

  1. Computers can be a laptop, notebook, or sub-notebook portable or desktop computers.
  2. At a minimum, the computer that you use under Option 2 must meet the specifications listed below. Students should recognize that these specifications truly represent the minimum operating standards and are not recommended if purchasing a new computer. Option 1 machines exceed most of these standards in terms of speed and memory. If purchasing a laptop from a vendor, take this information and make sure that the sales person has the list.

Hardware/Software Requirements for Laptop

Hardware

  • 2.4 GHz processor
  • 4 GB of system memory
  • 120 GB hard drive
  • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with: WDDM Driver and 256 MB of graphics memory
  • 8X DVD+/-RW w/Roxio and Cyberlink Power DVD
  • Intel® 4965 802.11a/g/n Dual-Band Mini Card

Software

  • Windows Vista
  • Office 2007
  • Compu Trace

We have no preference and want you to choose the option that is best for you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Office for Student and Administrative Services. Once you decide which option you are choosing, log onto the NSU web site and indicate your choice. In order to guarantee your option, you must log onto the Laptop Selection website by June 30th and indicate your option choice.
