Computer/Laptop Requirements

Intended Advantages of Option 1
  1. Under Option 1, you can be assured that all hardware and software listed below will be provided. You will not be required to pay any money in advance, separate from your University bill, to take possession of this equipment:

    • 4 GB of system memory
    • 120 GB hard drive
    • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with: WDDM Driver and 256 MB of graphics memory
    • 9 Cell Primary Battery, plus additional battery
    • 8X DVD+/-RW w/Roxio and Cyberlink Power DVD
    • Intel ® 4965 802.11a/g/n Dual-Band Mini Card
    • New Dell USB Optical Mouse with Scroll, All Black Design Software

    • Windows Vista
    • Office 2007
    • Compu Trace
    • McAfee
    • Secure Exam Browser

    Software licenses are purchased under academic licensing agreements. Manuals will not be included. Additonal information regarding this computer can be found:

  2. Students dependent on financial aid funds to pay educational expenses, can, under Option 1, receive their computer at the beginning of school and delay payment for all, or part of, their computer purchase price until their financial aid funds are available for their use. Because financial aid funds are not available until after school begins, students choosing the Option 2 exception will not have these funds available to buy another computer.
  3. The option 1 hardware is being purchased by you from Dell, and will have four year, next business day, on-site service and support.
  4. Only Option 1 students will have the benefit of loaner computers, if necessary, during repair. However, loaners are not guaranteed. Loaners are available only to Option 1 students because Dell provides the loaners.
  5. Only Option 1 students will be able to participant in computerized examinations.
