Computer/Laptop Requirements

Option 1

Under this option, you receive the laptop computer at a specified computer training session in the beginning of the Fall term. This laptop pricing, including all software, security, warranties, next business day parts and labors, laptop loaner and carrying case, is $1,760.00 (retail price: $3100.00), is provided exclusively to our students by Dell. By choosing Option 1, you agree to pay for your laptop on your Fall tuition bill. According to University policy, tuition bills are due at the beginning of the semester. If you receive financial aid, cost of a laptop will be included in your financial aid budget. Students electing Option One will be eligible to participate in computerized examinations.

The Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Dell have agreed, under the terms of this option, to allow our incoming students to take delivery on all required hardware and software at COM laptop configuration and to pay the entire purchase price on the Fall semester tuition bill. The terms of Option 1 are as follows:

  1. All entering DO students will be billed $1,760.00, by the University, for the total cost of the laptop on their NSU tuition invoice.
  2. From the payment made to satisfy your Fall University bills, the University will automatically send payment to Dell in your name. Upon payment of your Fall semester University bill, you will own your computer, accompanying equipment and software free and clear.
  3. All students’ financial aid budgets have been adjusted to include the cost of this computer package as a required expense of attending NSU COM.
  4. You will own your computer when your Fall University payment is made. If you withdraw from COM before October 1, returning your laptop in "like-new condition" as determined by Dell, the $1,760.00 will be removed from your tuition bill.
  5. All students choosing Option 1 will be expected to sign an agreement when they pick up their computers during laptop configuration and training, stating that they understand their obligation to pay Dell the entire purchase price for their hardware and software package, or to return the computer in a manner satisfactory to Dell. The conditions for return are discussed in paragraph 4 above. Once students sign this agreement and take delivery on their hardware and software, any failure to meet the obligations agreed to will leave the student subject to all legal remedies available to Dell to satisfy any outstanding debts.

This agreement also permits NSU to automatically send student financial aid funds received on students’ behalf to Dell to pay for the laptop. Finally, this agreement allows the University to withhold any tuition refund due a student who withdraws from school, and to send any or all of that refund to Dell to pay that student’s computer balance if the student fails to cancel that debt.
