Alumni Mentoring Program

The Alumni Mentoring Program is coordinated by the Office of Alumni Affairs. The purpose of the Alumni Mentoring Program is to provide current and potential students an opportunity to develop relationships and interact with current D.O.s in support of their profession. The goals of the mentoring program are to:

  • supply opportunities for socialization
  • offer professional and social networking opportunities
  • impart insight regarding the D.O. profession
  • provide support for student success in medical school.

Alumni act as mentors, informational resources, and communication links to current students years M1 through M4, recent graduates, and potential students. In addition, the mentors lend emotional support for students to be successful and adjust to the rigors and challenges of medical school.

The Office of Alumni Affairs also maintains a file on current job opportunities, which is available for review by all students and alumni. For more information to either act as a mentor or to be assigned to a mentor, please contact Lynne Cawley at cawley@nsu.nova.edu .

The American Osteopathic Association also offers the Year of the Mentor Program that offers potential and current medical students a service to assign a osteopathic medical physician as a mentor. For additional information, please contact: http://www.osteopathic.org/YOM/Mentor_main.htm
