Academical Society Officer Responsibilities

i.     Academical Society President

  • Preside over all Society Meetings
  • Attends and represents the Society at the SGA Senate Meetings
  • Serve as the official representative of the Society in matters brought to the Com Administration and Faculty.
  • Field student complaints/grievances in regards to school-wide issues
  • Coordinates and serves as a COM Ambassador for the Society
  • Works closely with the Society Advisors
  • Assures transmission of information to the Society
  • Delegate authority for specific society activities and functions as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Society Officers, Society Advisors, SGA Officers, SGA Senate, COM Administration or faculty.

ii.     Academical Society Administrative Vice President  

  • Assumes the responsibilities of the Society President in his or her absence
  • Field student complaints/grievances in regards to school-wide issues
  • Serve as the alternate representative of the Society in matters brought to the COM Administration and faculty.
  • Organizes and tracks Study Group Participation
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Society Officers, Society Advisors, SGA Officers, SGA Senate, COM Administration or faculty.

iii.   Academical Society Program Vice President  

  • Serve as the Program Officer of the Society meetings and Chairs the Program Committee.
  • Collects and maintains a program activity file, and submits periodic activity reports to SGA
  • Serve as the alternate representative of the Society in matters brought to the COM Administration and faculty.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Society Officers, Society Advisors, SGA Officers, SGA Senate, COM Administration or faculty.

iv.   Academical Society Secretary 

  • Serves as the Communications Officer of the Society.
  • Maintains Society attendance records.
  • Prepares Society minutes
  • Updates Society Web Site on an on-going basis.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Society Officers, Society Advisors, SGA Officers, SGA Senate, COM Administration or faculty.

v.     Academical Society Wellness Director  

  • Appointed by the Society Officers
  • Serves as the Wellness Program Officer of the Society and the Society representative to the SGA Wellness Program.
  • Ensures promotion of the Wellness Program
  • Assists in tracking participation in the SGA Wellness Program

vi.   Peer/Alumni Mentoring Director  

  • Appointed by the Society Officers
  • Chairs the Peer/Alumni Mentoring Committee
  • Serves as the Peer/Alumni Mentoring representative to the SGA Peer/Alumni Mentoring Committee
  • Assists in organizing and tracking Study Group Participation.
