CEME/GME - Postgraduate Program

With a 707- bed capacity, Mount Sinai Medical Center is the largest private, not-for-profit teaching hospital in South Florida. Mount Sinai offers emergency medicine and internal medicine residency programs. Its Emergency Medicine department treats approximately 30,000 patients annually. Special care units, including medical and surgical intensive care, are supervised by attending physicians and specialty fellows. Mount Sinai Medical Center trains more than 150 residents and fellows in 21 different specialty programs, and offers accredited programs in internal medicine, cardiology, pathology, radiology and surgery, as well as accredited programs in podiatry, and sleep disorders. In affiliation with the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Mount Sinai has programs in anesthesiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine, and thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. In addition, Mount Sinai Medical Center is approved to train third-year and fourth-year NSU-COM students.

Postgraduate Program
Emergency Medicine Residency approved for 24 postgraduate Emergency Medicine Residency Positions. Emergency Medicine requires a successfully completed osteopathic internship (not offered at MSMC). Postgraduate Program

General Information for Both Residency Programs

  • Annual Stipend (2006-2007):
    PGY 1: $44,775/year
    PGY 2: $46,810/year
    PGY 3: $48,843/year
    PGY 4: $51,208/year
  • Benefits:
  • Health insurance, dental insurance, malpractice insurance with tail coverage, lab coats.  Interns/residents are entitled to 14 paid sick days.
  • Vacation:
    PGY 1 is entitled to 21 calendar days.
    PGY 2, 3, and 4 residents are entitled to 28 calendar days.
